CNS STORY: LCWR president says Vatican inquiry raises questions of conscience

The emphasis is mine:

Conflict between the Leadership Conference of Women Religious and the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith over the reform of LCWR boils down to whether one can “be a Catholic and have a questioning mind,” the conference’s president said in an interview on National Public Radio’s “Fresh Air” program.

…or, to put it another way, can one be a Catholic and “Believe! Obey! Do Not Question!”?

The answer to me is obvious: NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! A thousand times NO!

What Catholicism demands – and what the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (formerly known as The Inquisition) is trying to impose on the LCWR – is the complete suspension of independent thought, and acceptance of  “all or nothing at all” belief that what the church says is true.

Well, as my good friend Richard would say, “fuck that shit!”.

It is my sincere hope that the good sisters will abjure the Holy Roman Catholic Church and strike out on their own as registered charities. That way they can do the work of the god without the Vicar of Christ shitting on them.

What is wholly puzzling is why the hell the Vatican is shitting on them in the first place!
