CNS STORY: Philadelphia Archdiocese to lay off 40, close Catholic Standard & Times

I wonder if the archdiocese is gearing up for paying out millions in compensation to abuse victims?

I’m sorry to see a 117-year-old newspaper fold, but hey, let’s face it – less Vatican propaganda is less Vatican propaganda.

I hope the staff that loses their jobs get some assistance in finding new ones… from the archdiocese, of course. If Dolan could give Wisconsin priests $20,000 to submit to laicisation, Chaput can fork over some of his bucks for these folks.

PHILADELPHIA (CNS) — Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Philadelphia has announced a reorganization of the archdiocesan administration that will result in the loss of 40 jobs and the closing of The Catholic Standard & Times, the 117-year-old archdiocesan newspaper.
